Republic Day 2024
Bharat got independence on 15thAUGUST, 1947 from the British Rule but New Constitution came into force on 26 January 1950. New Constitution was drafted by the drafting committee under the leadership of Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. In this. Bharat National Congress had declared “PURNA SWARAJ” on 26th January 1930 viz. the declaration of Bharat’s independence from the Colonial Rule. Therefore, 26th January is called as “Republic Day.
Indian Constitution
The Constitution of Bharat is the longest written Constitution throughout the world. In Indian Constitution 448 Articles, 12 Schedules and 97 Amendments have been incorporated. Indian Constitution has been completed in 02 Years, 11 months and 18 days. On 26th January, 2024, Bharat will celebrate its 75th Republic day.

Significance Of Republic Day
Republic day is not just a day off from Work or a great parade. It also shows respect to the values enshrined in the constitution like Principles of Justice, Freedom of Expression to every Citizen, equality in terms of respect for everyone and fraternity among everyone. Originally, when the constitution was formed, it had been started by showing the picture of LORD RAMA, LAXMAN, SITA AND HANUMAAN. The values described in Constitution has been influenced from the teachings of Bhagavad Gita. Lord Krishna says in Bhagavad Gita Verse 3.21 about the qualities of Leader:
yadyadācaratiśreṣṭhas
tat tad evetarojanaḥ
sayatpramāṇaṁkurute
lokas tad anuvartate
Whatever action a great man performs, common men follow. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues.
The attributes of Constitution and the values described in Constitution to develop among citizens are very much similar to the attributes and the values required for every citizen given in Bhagavad Gita Verse 16.1 to 16.3:

jñāna-yoga-vyavasthitiḥ

The Supreme Personality of Godhead said: Fearlessness; purification of one’s existence; cultivation of spiritual knowledge; charity; self-control; performance of sacrifice; study of the Vedas; austerity; simplicity; nonviolence; truthfulness; freedom from anger; renunciation; tranquillity; aversion to faultfinding; compassion for all living entities; freedom from covetousness; gentleness; modesty; steady determination; vigor; forgiveness; fortitude; cleanliness; and freedom from envy and from the passion for honor – these transcendental qualities, O son of Bharata, belong to godly men endowed with divine nature.

Vande Mataram Was Adopted As National Song
Vande Mataram was adopted as National Song of Bharat on 24TH Janaury, 1950. The Song was taken from the Poem of the Patrotic Novel “ANANDMATH” and this Novel has been written by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay. Only the first two Verses of VANDE MATARAM were adopted as the NATIONAL SONG OF Bharat.
Idea of Division of Power
Idea of division of power between union and different states has been copied by Constitution of Canada. Fundamental duty mentioned in Constitution has been taken from Soviet UNION. Directorial Elements mentioned in Constitution has been taken from Constitution of Ireland. Republican Administration system mentioned in Constitution has been taken French Constitution. Emergency Carriage System mentioned in Constitution has been taken from German Constitution.
Preamable of Bharatn Constitution
Preamable of Indian Constitution is given as follows:
“WE, THE PEOPLE OF Bharat,having solemnly resolved to constitute Bharat into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC and to secure to all its citizens:
JUSTICE, social, economic and political;LIBERTY of thought, expression, belief, faith and worship;EQUALITY of status and of opportunity;and to promote among them all FRATERNITY assuring the dignity of the individual andthe unity and integrity of the Nation;
IN OUR CONSTITUENT ASSEMBLY this 26th day ofNovember, 1949, do HEREBY ADOPT, ENACT AND GIVETO OURSELVES THIS CONSTITUTION.”

Invitation to Prime Minister/President Of Any Nation
Every year, The Prime Minister/President/or the ruler of any nation will be invited as a chief guest for the parade scheduled on 26 January. When the first Parade was held on 26thJanaury 1950, at that time, President of Indonesia Dr. Sukarno had been invited as a guest.when the first parade was organized at Rajpath, at that time The Governer General of Pakistan Malik Ghulam Mohammad had been invited. From 1950 to 1954, the celebrations of Indian Republic day had been performed at “Kingsway”, “Lalkila”, and Ramlila Ground.
Declaration of Hindi Language, Celebration of Swaraj Divas, Lion of Ashoka at Sarnath
On 26th January in 1965, Hindi Language has been choosenas National Language of Bharat. In 1950, Every year, date of 26thJanuary was decided to be celebrated as “Swaraj Divas”. On 26th January, 1950, the Lion of Ashoka at Sarnath has been declared as the National Emblem of Bharat.
Flypast
One of the best part of Republic day is the “Flypast”. Western Airforce Command takes the responsibility for “Flypast”, which involves the participation of 41 aircraft.Aircraft involved in the Parade comes from different direction and take participation at Rajpath at a fixed time.
Event of Tableau
Event of Tableau of Spiritual Culture of different states is organized in the Parade. The parade of Tableau moves at a speed of 5 km/hr,so that people can see thoroughly and take inspiration for inculcating the values and character in their life. Drivers of thesetableaux drive tableau through a small window. In the parade of 26th January 2022, 12 states and Union territories and Nine Ministries and departments have shown their tableau. These states are Arunachal Pradesh, Haryana, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Karnataka, Meghalaya, Punjab, Uttar-Pradesh and Uttarakhand.
Salute to National Flag
The parade of 26th January starts with the arrival of President. Firstly, the cavalier bodyguards of President salute National Flag. At this time, National Anthem is played and salute of 21 GUNS to National Flag is done. But Interest fact is that firing is not done through 21 Canon, but instead of this, 07 canons of the Indian Army, which are also known as “25-Ponders” are used for firing in 03 rounds.
Arrival at the Rajpath by 03 A.M.
All the participants of the parade wake up at 02 A.M. AND ARRIVE AT THE Rajpath by 03 A.M. However, preparations for the parade start at july of the previous year. In july month of previous year, all the participants are informed about their participation. Till 31st August, all the participants of parade practice for parade at their related regiment Centres. All the participants reach Delhi by the end of December. Till 26th January, All the participants used to practice for 600 Hours before performing on 26th January, the Republic Day.
Beating Retreat Ceremony
The beating Retreat Ceremony is organized on 29th January at Vijay Chowk with the performance of Indian Army bands, Air force bands and Navy bands. This ceremony marks the end of Republic day Celebrations in Bharat.
