Gaushalas are secure places for cows in India. Gaushalas’ objective is to treat cows as per Hinduism philosophy.

Lord Sri Krishna says in Srimad Bhagavatam

“I could be worshipped within the Cows by offering of grass and other suitable grains for the happiness and health of the Cows, and one can worship me within the Vaishnavas through offering loving friendship to them and respecting them in all respects.”

Thus, by serving the Cows one can get more spiritual benefit. By Feeding suitable grains with love to the Cows, performing puja, or just doing a simple scratch under the neck of cows one can attract the attention of the supreme personality of God.

In ISKCON Ghaziabad, our gaushala is associated with ISKCON Kathwada and Bareilly where 400 cows have been fed and cared for the past 40 years. Our main goal is to protect cow and provide education about the importance of cow protection.

Our effort is to revive, and re-establish our ancient Vedic culture again.

our mission

Gaushala

  • To promote love for the cow and its miracle.
  • To build cow protection a people’s movement.
  • To work for the cow protection.
  • To serve the cows.
  • To provide education about cow protection and its importance.

Bhagavad Gita explains how Lord Krishna cared for the cows each morning, by taking them to graze on the Govardhan hill. The mother Cow should be served with this similar attitude- by giving means of their food, shelter and medication.

Scripture About Cow Protection

Namo Brahmannya Devaaya Go-Braahmanna Hitaaya Ca |
Jagat Hitaaya Krssnnaaya Govindaaya Namo Namah ||

“My Lord, You are the well-wisher of the cows and the Brahmanas, and You are the well-wisher of the entire human society and the world.”

Save Cows… Save Civilization

In our Vedic culture, cows are worshipped as mothers. As per the Vedic knowledge, there are seven mothers:

  1. One’s own Mother
  2. Guru patni (the wife of one’s teacher)
  3. .Brahmani (the wife of a brahmana)
  4. Raja-patnika (the wife of the king)
  5. Dhenu (the cow)
  6. Dhatri (the nurse)
  7. Prithvi (the Earth)

All above are considered mothers as per the vedic scripture. Just as a child has been feeded by the breast milk of the mother, similarly people takes milk from the cow. Even bull is considered the father of human society because just as the father earns and do hard work to feed their children, similarly the bulls till the field to produce food grains. So, there is a need of cows protection to save the human civilization.

“Lord Krishna, the Supreme Personality of Godhead, is the prime protector of Vedic culture and the cow. Without knowing and honoring these pleasing personalities, one is not able to realize the science of God, and without this knowledge, any welfare activities or humanitarian propaganda cannot be successful.”

The founder-acharya of the ISKCON, His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada
